It's a great place to visit by any means of transport but one of the things I love about cycling is that you do get to see a lot more wildlife and you're more "in" the picture rather than just looking at it from behind a car window. Today was a sunny winter day, but much of the dirt road was slushy from recent rain and I saw snow beside the road at the highest points. Yes, between Warburton and Woods Point, vehicles are few and far between. I saw only a dozen and I think they were all 4-wheel-drives. I didn't see the range of wildlife you did, but I noticed some flying kookaburras (and the brown chooks wandering the main street in Woods Point). The pub still has Carlton Draught as the only beer on tap, so I enjoyed one. It was a nice day trip, including the red wines at Wild Cattle Creek Estate in Seville this afternoon. I'm aching from 5-and-a-half hours of driving on those roads, so I can imagine how relieved, satisfied and exhausted you were after the pushbike journey.<br />- Dave B, Box Hill North.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1850096824006501592.post-74937286325992107352012-07-07T22:35:39.920+10:002012-07-07T22:35:39.920+10:00Just stumbled on this while researching a car trip...Just stumbled on this while researching a car trip from Box Hill to Woods Point tomorrow. I first heard of Woods Point when I spent a 1980s summer working at Walhalla and noticed the sign pointing up a hilly, gravelly road. I later heard Woods Point is the most remote settlement in Victoria. I'm a bit nervous about my long car journey tomorrow on those lonely, rough, unpredictable mountain roads, so I can only admire your amazing achievement doing it on a pushbike in a day!
